Over the past several years, there has been enormous and ongoing change at UW Medicine. We have opened numerous new clinics in new neighborhoods, added two new hospitals to our system, created an Accountable Care Network with new partners, continued in our quest to find better ways to treat patients and virtually reinvented our medical education curriculum.

In the midst of all that change we need to remember that an essential part of our journey in coming together as a health system is getting to know each other. It’s important to find better ways to communicate and connect, to help everyone better understand what UW Medicine stands for, and to celebrate our accomplishments, large and small.

With that, I am pleased to welcome you to The Huddle, the brand new news and culture website for the UW Medicine workforce.

The Huddle tells the UW Medicine story through the eyes of its employees, leaders, researchers, clinicians and faculty. It showcases what – and who – makes us special, and what we’re all doing every day to advance our mission of improving the health of the public.

This is a central resource for learning about the amazing things going on everywhere in our organization — in patient care, in medical education, in our ground breaking research labs, and out in the community. There is so much to be proud of here.

Ultimately, The Huddle is yours, built on your experiences, your stories, your images and your insights. I’d encourage you to come to the site not just to read, but to share and to participate. Let’s see what we can create together.

Thank you, and enjoy!
