In its 2022 list of “America’s Best Employers By State,” Forbes has ranked UW Medicine as the top healthcare system and third overall best workplace in Washington. This year’s rankings are based on a survey of 70,000 employees nationally and include 1,382 employers that received the most recommendations. In addition to questions about fair pay, safe working conditions and an inclusive culture, the survey focused on the wage gap for women and initiatives around diversity, equity and inclusion.
“Despite the many stresses on employees in healthcare today — from the toll of the pandemic to staffing and capacity challenges — our high rankings in the Forbes survey reflect our focus on our people and our role within the community,” says Tim Dellit, MD, interim CEO of UW Medicine. “I believe they show the continuing commitment to UW Medicine’s mission as a source of purpose and workplace satisfaction. At the same time, we recognize that we need to continue to build upon our efforts to improve our learning and work environments to support the well-being of our employees, and we are committed to listening to our employees to make sure that we can continue to attract and retain the top talent that makes UW Medicine special.”
