Every day, UW Medicine employees are helping improve the health of the public. To celebrate this work, we’re launching Raves & Raves, a monthly column of positive feedback received from patients and community members.

Read on to hear from patients how you and your colleagues are making a difference in our community.

Harborview Medical Center (Emergency Room)

The nurse talked [to] me almost everything in Spanish. When she placed the serum, she explained what each medication was going to be for that she put on me. She explained to me why she was going to draw blood [and] also explained what exams they were going to do with the blood sample that they drew. Everyone was very nice and very attentive.

UW Medical Center – Northwest (Cardiac Procedures Unit)

My father, […], has significant dementia as well as difficult hearing. […] Mike Moon, RN, was the nurse who took care of dad for his recovery – Dad needed to stay flat for 3 hours – he hadn’t eaten – he is 95 years old with an indwelling catheter. Mike was so very kind and compassionate. He did his best to communicate with dad, and at ALL times showed great respect. Mike took care of my father as if he was his own father – His kindness & gentleness brought me to tears – Mike made a very difficult day tolerable – [UW Medical Center – Northwest] is very fortunate to have such an individual as part of their team. Thank you nurse Mike.

UW Medical Center – Montlake (Inpatient)

We had the most exceptional experience w/our sons birth @ UWMC. All our doctors were exceptional and made sure that we were involved in planning for each step. Our nurses Kaitlin, Angie and Nicole made everything so seamless and allowed me to focus on having a baby rather than worrying about anything at all. The experience was so personal, and they made us feel special while using their expertise in such meaningful ways. We still think of them regularly and speak of all of them fondly when sharing our birth story.

UW Medicine Primary Care (Ravenna Clinic, Medical Practice)

Dr. Hwang is a very good listener and practitioner. She absolutely heard what I said, had empathy and compassion and went to work on the referrals I needed. She is a kind and caring professional. I felt she had my best interest in mind on all levels.
