I am honored and grateful to serve as the interim president of UW Medicine Hospitals & Clinics. Since coming to UW Medicine nine years ago, I have been inspired by our mission to improve the health of the public, and I welcome this opportunity to help guide the growth and development of our clinical system while also focusing on the health and well-being of our employees, patients and community.
As I take the reins from Lisa Brandenburg, who retired on Oct. 1, I am fortunate to work with an exceptional leadership team. To further strengthen this team, I am pleased to announce that Carrie Priebe and Louise Simpson are taking on additional responsibilities as Associate Vice Presidents effective today, and we have filled the open position for chief strategy officer.
Associate Vice President for Strategic Growth, Access and Innovation: In addition to her current responsibilities leading the enterprise access team and Contact Center, Carrie Priebe will provide oversight of digital health and the following system-wide strategic service lines: Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, Spine Services, Neurosciences Institute, Heart Institute, and Women & Children’s. Digital Health and the service lines will maintain their current organizational and leadership structure.
Associate Vice President for Clinical Integration and Transformation: Louise Simpson will lead UW Medicine’s efforts to improve operational performance, oversee emerging programs and advance strategic multi-year initiatives related to length of stay, capacity management and financial improvement. Louise will continue to support and oversee the UW Medicine Post-Acute Care Network and Clinical Service, Palliative Care, Transfer Center, Nurse Line and Practitioner Information Line while also assuming responsibility for additional enterprise-wide programs, including Environmental Sustainability and Emergency Preparedness.
Chief Strategy Officer: Following an extensive national search, we will be welcoming Elizabeth Fleming to our leadership team on Oct. 31. Elizabeth has extensive knowledge of the Seattle market and great experience in innovation with Group Health and Kaiser Permanente. She will be responsible for prioritizing and facilitating clinical strategic planning for the UW Medicine system, stewarding our mission, leveraging strategic partnerships and models, and driving growth of our clinical programs across WWAMI.
As a leadership team, we know that the success of UW Medicine always starts with our amazing community of staff, faculty, trainees and students. Despite all the challenges that we are currently navigating, we can always count on your expertise and compassion to advance our mission and make a difference for our patients and community.
