March 13-17 is Patient Safety Awareness Week. This annual week-long event is intended to encourage healthcare organizations, care team members, patients and families to learn more about patient safety through education, dialogue, reflection and recognition.

UW Medical Center
- SAFETY HEROES awards ceremony recognizing staff members and providers who have gone above and beyond to promote patient safety in our organization. Join the event on Monday, March 13, 12:30-2 p.m. at UW Medical Center – Montlake: Turner Auditorium or the UW Medical Center – Northwest: Board Room (MOB).
- “A New Horizon of Ensuring Psychological Safety: Listening with Intention” lecture with Sarah Kim, PhD. Join the event on Wednesday, March 15, 10-11 a.m., at the UW Medical Center – Montlake Turner Auditorium.
Harborview Medical Center
- Events recognizing staff who have demonstrated excellence in patient safety will be happening throughout the week.
- Pet therapy dog Palmer and his handler Maria will help deliver recognition certificates to Harborview Medical Center units on Monday, March 13.
Valley Medical Center
- This Week at Valley article will highlight the recent Speak Up! Award runners up and will include learning sessions by safety teams.
Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center
- Patient Safety Intranet site will highlight the Patient Safety Team’s work and accomplishments from this past year.
- Acknowledgements for staff taking an active role in patient safety.
