Harborview Medical Center, UW Medical Center – Montlake and UW Medical Center – Northwest achieved Stage 6 Certification in Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model. The certification recognizes an unwavering commitment to excellence in digital health and patient care. The designation is awarded by the Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), a global leader in healthcare technology accreditation.
The HIMSS Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model is an eight-stage framework (0-7) that evaluates the use of electronic medical records in improving clinical outcomes, patient engagement and clinician adoption of electronic medical record technology. Achieving Stage 6 is a significant milestone, with fewer than 6% of hospitals nationwide reaching this level.
The certification process involved an extensive assessment, including review of data across five key domains:
- Data Capture and Information Exchange
- Patient Engagement
- Healthcare Analytics and Outcome Measurement
- Resilience Management
- Clinical User Adoption
In November, HIMSS conducted a virtual review, which highlighted how UW Medicine uses data to enhance patient outcomes and improve operational performance.
This prestigious recognition is the result of months of hard work and collaboration between UW Medicine Information Technology Services, UW Medicine clinical teams and HIMSS.
