Sidney Gospe, Jr., MD, PhD, professor emeritus of Neurology and Pediatrics, received the 2021 Roger and Mary Brumback Lifetime Achievement Award from the Child Neurology Society.

Gospe joined UW School of Medicine in 2000 as a professor of Neurology and Pediatrics, was head of the Division of Pediatric Neurology, and recipient of the Herman and Faye Sarkowsky endowed chair in Child Neurology. During his tenure, he guided trainees and junior faculty and participated in the WWAMI (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho) program, making more than 100 trips to clinics in Alaska during his 17 years in Seattle.

In addition, he served for many years on the editorial board of Pediatric Neurology, becoming senior associate editor in 2013, and since 2015, he has served as associate editor of Pediatric Research.
