Colin Pritchard, MD, PhD, received the Catalyst for Precision Medicine Award from Scientific American for his work in developing molecular diagnostics for a variety of cancers, thereby leading to better targeted treatments for patients.
As part of the award, Scientific American has donated $50,000 to Pritchard’s cancer research, which he plans to direct to UW Medicine student programs that focus on cancer diagnostics research.
Pritchard is a professor in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology. In addition, he leads Precision Diagnostics for the Brotman Baty Institute for Precision Medicine and co-directs the UW Medicine Genetics and Solid Tumors Laboratory.
