Sommer Kleweno Walley, MHA, MA, SLP, and Jeannine Grinnell, MHA, CPA, have been named the new chief executive officers (CEOs) of Harborview Medical Center and Valley Medical Center, respectively.

Harborview’s New CEO

Kleweno Walley succeeds Paul Hayes, who retired after six years as Harborview CEO.

She has served in clinical and administrative roles during her 24 years with Harborview. She began her Harborview career in 1997 as a speech-language pathologist. After holding many leadership positions across the organization, she joined Harborview’s executive team in 2017, when she was promoted to senior associate administrator for Surgical, Emergent, Integrated Clinical Services.

In December 2020, Kleweno Walley stepped in to serve as interim chief executive officer at Harborview. She has also been a leader in the response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Valley’s New CEO

Jeannine Grinnell.

Grinnell is the first female CEO at Valley.

Grinnell has worked at Valley for 20 years, rising through finance positions to serve as chief financial officer and superintendent of Public Hospital District No. 1, the oldest and largest in Washington.

In January 2021 she was appointed interim CEO after Rich Roodman announced his retirement. She has also been a leader in the response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
