Oct.16-20 is National Pharmacy Week and Oct. 17 is Pharmacy Technician Day, which recognizes pharmacists’ and pharmacy technicians’ contributions to patient care.
National Pharmacy Week
At UW Medicine, pharmacy services are integrated into patient care teams across all care settings, ensuring the safe and effective use of medications. Pharmacists round with physicians, nurses and other healthcare providers to manage drug therapies, educate patients on their medication regimens and make sure the right medication is prescribed for the right patient.
Pharmacy Technician Day
Pharmacy technicians play a number of integral roles in ensuring that the right medication gets to the right patient in a timely manner. Technicians prepare doses, replenish medication stock and ensure the medication makes it from the pharmacy to patient care areas.
