The American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) recently held elections for its seven-member 2021 AMSSM Sports Medicine Resident Council (SMRC). Jami Montagnino, MD, a physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) Resident, Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, was elected to the council as the PM&R Representative and will begin her new role in January.
The council of nationally elected officers consists of five resident representatives (one from each primary specialty) along with a Sports Medicine Resident Council president and a communications representative. Each will serve a one-year term (January through December) governing the Sports Medicine Resident Council with a focus on developing, sustaining and advocating on behalf of all trainees interested in sports medicine.
