The University of Washington AIDS Clinical Trials Unit will be hosting a free public celebration in recognition of the official changing of its name to UW Positive Research. It will take place on Friday, May 20 at View Park on the west side of Harborview Medical Center.
This event will not only celebrate the history of the unit’s part in developing therapies to improve the health and wellbeing of people with HIV, but will also honor and recognize the legacy of Anne Collier, MD, who directed the research unit since its start in 1986, and helped to found The Madison Clinic, the largest specialty clinic for people with HIV, serving as its first medical director.
The list of speakers include: Rachel Bender Ignacio, MD, MPH; Larry Corey, MD; Robert Harrington, MD; Stephanie Deyo, Laurie Syla and Manuel Venegas.
Questions about the event should be sent to positiveresearch@uw.edu.
