Effective immediately, we are lifting work-related travel restrictions for all UW Medicine employees and will continue to follow UW policies for work-related travel.

UW Medicine continues to play a critical role in leading the response to the COVID-19 pandemic through our clinical, research, and educational activities. We previously implemented work-related travel restrictions on January 10, 2022, due to the rapid increase in COVID-19 cases in our community as well as increasing hospitalizations and the direct impact on our employees, which led to significant staffing challenges and the need to preserve our workforce.

As we continue to re-assess our status, we appear to have passed the peak surge of new cases in our region and are also seeing reduced hospitalizations and impact on our workforce. While we are encouraged by these trends, we also recognize that COVID-19 transmission remains at high levels in our community, and we still have large numbers of patients with COVID-19 in our hospitals. We must continue to work together to maintain a safe environment for our patients and staff while providing the highest quality of care for our patients.

We will continue to monitor the impact of COVID-19 on our community and provide further guidance as this phase of the pandemic evolves. As always, we greatly appreciate all that you are doing to serve our patients and community.

Sincerely,
