Dr. Steven Pergam, UW School of Medicine associate professor of allergy and infectious diseases, is this year’s recipient of the Dr. Ali Al-Johani Award, which recognizes exceptional medical care and compassion to transplant patients and families.
Established in 2001, the Al-Johani Award is named in honor of the patient whose gift in gratitude for his care led to the creation of the award. Awardees are chosen by a committee that includes the Fred Hutch Clinical Research Division director and representatives from nursing, clinical faculty, and quality and patient family services.
Pergam is also a physician researcher at Fred Hutch and medical director of infection prevention at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. Learn more about Dr. Pergam and his work with transplant patients.
