Dr. Nicholas Poolos named interim chair of Department of Neurology

Dr. Poolos specializes in epilepsy and is chair of the professional advisory board of the Epilepsy Foundation Northwest. He has concentrated his research in cellular neurophysiology with an emphasis on cellular and molecular causes of epilepsy.

Dr. Poolos is a professor of neurology and adjunct associate professor of physiology and biophysics in the UW School of Medicine. He earned his MD and PhD from Stanford University. 

In his new position, he succeeds Dr. Bruce Ransom, who served as department chair for the past 24 years.
