On March 7, Dr. Dushyant Sahani joined UW Medicine as the new chair for the Department of Radiology. He took over the position from Dr. William Shuman, who made significant contributions to the department as acting chair.

Dr. Sahani is an internationally acclaimed radiologist with specific expertise in computed tomography (CT), and translational research. He joined UW Medicine from Massachusetts General Hospital, where he served as director of CT and Harvard Medical School, where he served as associate professor of radiology. While there, he pioneered the development and application of many advanced imaging techniques, including non-invasive CTA and non-invasive 3-D approaches to evaluate patients with liver and pancreatic tumors.

An authority in cancer-related imaging and image biomarker validation, Dr. Sahani has received national and international recognition, and his results have been published in leading scientific journals. Dr. Sahani has contributed over 330 original articles and reviews to medical literature, numerous book chapters, and has edited two textbooks. In addition, he has been a visiting professor at numerous universities in the United States and abroad.

In addition to leading the Department of Radiology, Dr. Sahani is also a member of the governing board of UW Physicians.
