UW Medicine continues to play a critical role in leading the response to the COVID-19 pandemic through our clinical, research, and educational activities. Due to the significant increase in COVID-19 cases locally and nationally, we are re-implementing work-related travel restrictions for all UW Medicine employees in order to preserve our workforce and continue to serve our patients and community.
Effective January 10, 2022 until further notice, employees should refrain from work-related travel, including for conferences and meetings related to professional membership societies and associations as well as for clinical activities outside of approved UW Medicine sites of practice and training.
To the extent possible, remote options, such as zoom or other virtual modalities, should be utilized as an alternative to travel or in-person activities.
Questions about the application of these UW Medicine travel restrictions on pending travel plans should be discussed with your immediate supervisor.
In addition, we strongly encourage all employees to reconsider invitations for non-UW individuals to visit UW Medicine, including invites for interviews, speaking engagements, and other meetings and gatherings.
Finally, we encourage you to carefully reconsider non-essential personal travel, as we strive to keep our workforce healthy and maintain our ability to provide high-quality care and service.
We will continue to monitor the impact of COVID-19 on our community and provide further guidance as this phase of the pandemic evolves.
