As you may know, the UW Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) is providing national and state level forecasts for the COVID-19 epidemic. The data were updated over the weekend and published this morning. My take-away is cautious optimism as Washington state appears to be at or potentially just past the predicted peak of new COVID-19 patients. Because these data are only predictions, we will continue to monitor the situation closely over the weeks to come. We cannot back off on all of our ongoing work, but maybe take a moment to breathe and recognize how far we have all come.
