UW Medicine’s four hospitals have been recognized as leaders in LGBTQ Healthcare Equality by the Human Rights Campaign, as part of their 2020 Healthcare Equality Index.

The Index, in its 13th year, measures the ways in which healthcare facilities provide inclusive and equitable treatment to patients, visitors and employees who are part of the LGBTQ community, looking at things like non-discrimination training, patient services, employee benefits and policies, and community engagement.

UW Medicine has been included in the Index since 2011, when both Harborview Medical Center and UW Medical Center – Montlake were first added. Valley Medical Center first appeared on the list in 2012, and UW Medical Center – Northwest in 2013. Since being added, all hospitals have remained leaders during each consecutive year.

This year, all four hospitals received scores of 100, the highest possible score.
