On November 6, 2019, the UW Medicine MEDEX Northwest Physician Assistant (PA) Program was granted continued accreditation for the next 10 years by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).
MEDEX Northwest just celebrated its 50th Anniversary. Starting with its first class of fourteen military servicemen in 1969, the program has now trained 2,600 physician assistants, who practice primarily in the WWAMI region (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho). With its renewed accreditation, the program will continue to make substantial contributions to healthcare throughout the region and, especially, in medically underserved and rural areas.
