We have been so inspired by everyone’s collaborative spirit and the many offers to help during this challenging time. We also know that the issues of child care have been a particular stressor for many members of our clinical team. We are working to put together multiple resources to help address this need.

Our first step is to bring together those who want to provide support with those in need. That’s why we are excited to share our newly developed platform to help connect members of the entire UW Medicine community during the COVID-19 pandemic: The UW Medicine Care & Share website. This website is an interactive platform that allows us to connect people offering and seeking support (child care, carpooling, pet care, etc.) Once a connection is made, the offerer and requester can communicate via phone or email, outside of the Care & Share site.

Thank you all for coming together as we support one another and our community during this time. A special thanks to the Department of Medicine, specifically Dr. Barbara Jung, Patty Adams and the Department of Medicine IT group Walt Morrison, Will Spangler and Jay Birn, for all their work in creating the site in record time and for making it available to everyone.

We ask for those of you with offers of help (babysitting, grocery shopping, etc.) to please go to this site to offer your help. We hope that we can quickly start making these essential connections to help fulfill the UW Medicine community’s needs. Please understand that the site is a work in progress, and we welcome feedback on how to make it more effective.

Thank you again for all you are doing to take care of our patients and each other!
