Friday, Feb. 28 is Thank a Resident Day, sponsored by the Arnold P. Gold Foundation. Thank a Resident Day is an annual celebration of the contributions and successes of residents and fellows, including here at the University of Washington School of Medicine and UW Medicine. Led by the Gold Humanism Honor Society, Thank a Resident Day is a special day that takes place each year on the last Friday of February to collectively show gratitude and appreciation for resident physicians and fellows and how integral they are to the healthcare team.

Our medical and dental residents and fellows are a vital part of the UW Medicine team, representing 1 in 3 physicians in UW Medicine hospitals (UW Medical Center and Harborview Medical Center), 1 in 5 physicians in the UW Medicine Accountable Care Network. UW School of Medicine trainees rotate at Seattle Children’s Hospital (750 trainees), Harborview Medical Center (1,240 trainees), UW Medical Center (1,250 trainees) and the VA Puget Sound Health Care, in addition to nearly 800 other training sites in Seattle, Washington, the WWAMI region and the world.

The Graduate Medical Education Team will host events at UW Medical Center, Harborview, Seattle Children’s and the VA on Friday to thank our trainees and provide lunches. Residents and fellows should check their email for details.
