Last week, we announced that the Kaiser Permanente contract will expire on May 31, 2021. We are sending a link to a revised set of Frequently Asked Questions that provides some clarification on emergency care and prior authorization.
The revised FAQs include the following clarifications:
- This change does not apply to referrals or transfers of Kaiser members to one of our UW Medicine hospitals for emergency medical care.
- Kaiser’s authorization of services beyond May 31, 2021, does not constitute a guarantee of payment for services. Patients should be notified that they may be responsible for a higher out-of-pocket amount, possibly the entire billed amount.

Thank you,
