In our new series, One Fun Thing, we’re bringing you small, specific and low-effort ways to have more fun, plus a question to help you check in with yourself and others, and upcoming wellness events.
As we head into the holiday season, you might be feeling excited, stressed, joyful, lonely or all of the above (sometimes all at once).
This year, many people are returning to holiday traditions after several years of adjusted or postponed festivities. This can bring up those mixed emotions: you might be eager to see loved ones and nervous about health risks or grateful for a semblance of normalcy and overwhelmed by the return of holiday socializing.
We have a chance to rethink how we come back together and to choose gatherings that honor what we need, prioritize our well-being and yes, even add in some fun.
This month, ahead of the holidays, it’s all about taking joyful breaks.
One fun thing: proactive breaks
Too often, we refuse to take a break until we’ve reached our limits and are forced to rest because we get sick or are exhausted. But you don’t need to earn rest and relaxation. Add some joy this month by taking breaks before you need them.
In fact, we encourage taking breaks early, often and just because. ’Tis the season, and as they say, the more (breaks) the merrier.
Question of the month
A way to check in with each other and ourselves. Use this question to connect with co-workers at your next meeting, to start a conversation around the dinner table or as a journal prompt.
What is one thing you’re grateful to receive right now, and what is one thing you are grateful to provide right now?
