Healthgrades named Harborview Medical Center and Valley Medical Center as recipients of its 2018 Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence on Jan. 23. Hospitals recognized with this award performed among the top 5 percent in the nation in at least 21 of the 32 inpatient conditions that are measured.
When the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) updated its Overall Star Ratings in December, UW Medical Center received a five-star rating. This rating summarizes up to 57 quality measures, and the most common rating is three stars.
UWMC was one of only a handful of tertiary/quaternary care hospitals to earn top honors. Northwest Hospital & Medical Center and Valley Medical Center both received a four-star rating, and Harborview received three stars.
In the Leapfrog Group’s fall 2017 ratings for hospital safety, UW Medical Center received its fourth consecutive “A” grade and Northwest Hospital & Medical Center was also one of 832 hospitals in the nation to receive an “A” grade. Harborview Medical Center and Valley Medical Center were also rated highly with “B” grades.
