On Friday, June 9, from noon to 1 p.m., the Digital Health Office is hosting an employee forum about upcoming changes to MyChart message billing, including Q&A to address questions you may have as a patient.

As our online patient portal, MyChart provides a convenient way for patients to refill prescriptions, make appointments and give their care team updates on their health. Over the past few years, MyChart has also become another way to seek medical advice, rather than coming in for an appointment. This has resulted in a significant increase in the number of messages our providers receive. To account for the medical advice and expertise provided through MyChart, UW Medicine and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center will begin billing for some of these medical advice responses that provide care or consultation that otherwise would have been done through a clinic or telemedicine appointment.

During this one-hour session, panelists will provide an overview of MyChart, discuss the upcoming billing changes for certain types of messages and answer questions to support you and our patients through the go-live of MyChart message billing on June 27.

Panelists for this event include:

  • Crystal Wong, MD, Family Medicine, UW Medicine Primary Care, Associate Chief Digital Health Officer, UW Medicine
  • John D. Scott, MD, MSc, FIDSA, Chief Digital Health Officer, UW Medicine
  • Leo Morales, MD, Internal Medicine, UW Medical Center, Office of Healthcare Equity
  • Fuki Hisama, MD, Genetics, UW Medical Center
  • Leah Savitsky, MD, OB/GYN, UW Medical Center
  • Jessica Bender, MD Internal Medicine, Harborview Medical Center

In addition to this employee-focused event, we are also holding a Community Conversation on June 16 at noon for our broader community. (Details about the upcoming MyChart Community Conversation will be posted by June 9.)

Please take a moment to send us your questions and register in advance.
