Michael Schwartz, MD, founding director of the UW Medicine Diabetes and Obesity Center of Excellence and the Robert H. Williams Chair in Medicine, received one of the Endocrine Society’s 2022 Laureate Awards: the Roy O. Greep Award for Outstanding Research.

This annual award recognizes Schwartz’s contributions to research in endocrinology, particularly his studies on how the brain regulates energy balance and moderates blood sugar levels. He is now working on potential new brain treatments for Type 2 diabetes.
