First-year UW School of Medicine student L’Oreal Kennedy is a recipient of the inaugural Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC)/Darrell G. Kirch, MD Scholarship presented by the National Medical Fellowships (NMF).
This scholarship was established in 2019 to honor President Emeritus Dr. Darrell G. Kirch of the AAMC for his dedication to transforming the nation’s health care system and demonstrating how academic institutions can create change across education, research and health care. NMF received roughly 300 applications from first year underrepresented minority medical students from across the country. Only eight of those applicants were chosen as scholarship recipients.
This competitive scholarship is awarded to students that demonstrate a commitment to community service and exemplify the leadership and commitment of Dr. Darrell G. Kirch toward creating a diverse workforce of healthcare professionals.
