The Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic at UW Medical Center – Montlake has expanded its imaging capabilities with five new ultrasound suites capable of providing complex imaging and advanced screenings. The buildout also includes a new imaging read room for providers and a new workroom for sonographers.

“This expansion allows our patients to stay at the clinic for advanced imaging and remain close to their providers and support team,” says Edith Cheng, MD, vice chair of obstetrics and perinatal outreach in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

The clinic serves patients with high-risk pregnancies across the Pacific Northwest region.

“We are proud to provide the full spectrum of obstetrics imaging and a multidisciplinary approach that combines the expertise of radiologists and maternal-fetal medicine specialists. This helps ensure the most accurate, comprehensive and compassionate care for our patients,” says Manjiri Dighe, MD, radiologist and medical director of ultrasound at UW Medical Center.

This expansion was made possible, in part, by a generous donation from the family of Lynn Yim-Lin Shih, a former lead nurse who worked in the Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic at UW Medical Center for over three decades. The clinic entrance, now officially named the Lynn Shih Lobby, was dedicated earlier this month to honor Lynn’s service to our community and her family’s generosity, which also includes two new endowed funds to support professional development for obstetrics nurses at UW Medical Center as well as students in the UW School of Nursing.
