Throughout the month of March, Safeway and Albertsons customers throughout Washington will be invited to donate at the pin pad to support UW Medicine’s Cancer Vaccine Institute (CVI) and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. All proceeds from this check stand campaign will be split between the two organizations and we hope to raise around $300,000 for CVI’s breakthrough research.
CVI is the largest academic research group dedicated to the development of cancer vaccines and has seen promising results in human clinical trials using vaccines to prevent breast and ovarian cancer and their recurrence. The institute is also developing vaccines for colon, lung, bladder and prostate cancers.
If you shop at Safeway or Albertsons in March, be sure to thank the cashier for Safeway’s support of cancer research at UW Medicine.
